RoyalTEK Bluetooth GPS and Motorokr E6 Problem

From my post on http://forum.mgmaps.com:

Until 1 month ago I have been able to use my RoyalTEK BT GPS (STARIII) – RBT-2100, without problem with MGMaps on MotoROKR E6.

*** Then something mysterious happened ***

It is not working anymore:
– Phone and GPS bonded (paired) appropriately
– MGMaps Configured as before with the Bluetooth device
– I can see the “compass” sign which indicates GPS existence
– The GPS is successfully positioned (per its LEDs)
– Permissions given to MGMaps access the bluetooth device as a client
– Lat: Lon: Spd: displayed as (N/A)
– Maps are successfuly displayed
– Menu -> GPS -> Where am I? FAILS with:
GPS Error
GPS
position not yet determined. Make sure the phone can receive/determine
GPS information and the satellite signal strength is good, wait a few
seconds and try again.
– I am perfectly sure that the GPS is ok as I
have extensively re-tested with my laptop (over bluetooth) and an E-TEN
Glofish X500.
– I have tested with every previous available MGMaps versions. Always the same result.

As I have been trying to get this working again since a lot of weeks, I am open to any ideas Smile

Considering
some potential problem with the phone itself, (BTW the BT performance
is perfect still), can I somehow test the GPS with MGMaps on a Laptop
or Palm Tungsten T2?

Later I tested MGMaps with Sun WTK on Linux and the same result. But finally:

—-

It was surprisingly about the GPS device after all. What I did was:
– Remove the GPS battery
– Turn on the GPS (no LEDs on of course)
– Wait for an hour
– Insert the GPS battery

and voila .. It works!! ..

RoyalTEK Bluetooth GPS and Palm Tungsten T2

I have been struggling on this with various software .. I am just about to restart ..

After putting my GPS in a proper state, I managed to collect tracks using CetusGPS (www.CetusGPS.dk)
