Building a EZX Build and Flash Env on OEL5

This is a long route to follow I feel .. But I’m on it anyway ..

Doing this with ROKRE6 ..

First better to find a way to flash the phone from Linux desktop. RSDLite is ok but it is Windoze only ..

Putiing the phone to MBM flash mode by power+photo and attaching to USB gives:
Sep 3 11:26:37 localhost kernel: usb 5-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
Sep 3 11:26:40 localhost kernel: usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

and no new entry under /dev

Checking http://moto4lin.sourceforge.net/wiki/FlashingEZX

Building:
– p2kmoto – ok
– exxflash Build problems:
a. make[1]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/share/qt4/mkspecs/linux-g++/qmake.conf’, needed by `Makefile’. Stop.
the file is at /usr/lib/qt4/mkspecs/linux-g++/qmake.conf
b. /usr/bin/uic-qt4 does not exist
c. main.cpp:1:17: error: QtGui: No such file or directory
d. src/tools/moc: No such file or directory
e. *** No rule to make target `-DQT_NO_DEBUG’, needed by `moc_mainwindow.cpp’

There is some patching needed here .. So I did it (DIY): ezxflash_OEL5_XceptN.patch

then
/usr/lib/qt4/bin/qmake
make

./build does the others.

But unsbf does not work ok .. Going for SVN

   svn co http://svn.openezx.org/trunk/src/host/ezxflash/

The makefile patch is ok with Build 2349

   parseheader/parseheader test.sbf
–> gets you the out.txt
   unsbf/unsbf test.sbf

gets you the *.bin files

–> but this method is good with e780 firmwares.. No good for ROKRE6 .. Looking for other ways ..

Currently using desbf.exe to patch/parse sbf files .. and using manual mounts on linux .. Shall write more on this ..

Too Many “Missed Events” on ROKR E6

Due to more than 10 (or so) missed events on my ROKR E6, I could not have the list of missed events since ..

Now there are “128 Missed events” …..!!!!! Looking for a way to clear them up..

The
problem is that to tell ROKR E6 to “Cancel” them all, one needs to have
the list of missed items by tapping on the “N Missed events” text. But
the list does not come up ..

This is with firmware:
R533_G_11.12.08P
BP: R533_G_11.12.08PB
PFIex: GSZMCAUT677ZH01B
DSP: 63343400
Technology: Quad Band GSM

There are some motorolafans forum entries but nothing much useful:
http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/e6-general-chat/22235-e6-missed-events-display.html
http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/e6-general-chat/8601-missed-events-issues.html
http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/e6-general-chat/8744-help-clearing-missed-events-display.html
http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/a1200-general-chat/8131-q-how-clear-events-calendar-fw-08p.html
http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/e6-general-chat/18517-200-missed-appointments-phone-memory-almost-full.html

I do not like to re-flash / or master reset solutions as I have done a lot job on this existing config ..

http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/a1200-general-chat/9709-sound-every-30-minutes.html

only gives some hope with 30p46p. Checking on that ..

Just
upgraded to R535_G_11.81.09P_R92_WM and not we are all safe .. There
does not seem to be a good way to cover this .. Since there had been a
bug with the old firmware..

Now I have my own firmware version and do not have this problem at all ..

RoyalTEK Bluetooth GPS and Motorokr E6 Problem

From my post on http://forum.mgmaps.com:

Until 1 month ago I have been able to use my RoyalTEK BT GPS (STARIII) – RBT-2100, without problem with MGMaps on MotoROKR E6.

*** Then something mysterious happened ***

It is not working anymore:
– Phone and GPS bonded (paired) appropriately
– MGMaps Configured as before with the Bluetooth device
– I can see the “compass” sign which indicates GPS existence
– The GPS is successfully positioned (per its LEDs)
– Permissions given to MGMaps access the bluetooth device as a client
– Lat: Lon: Spd: displayed as (N/A)
– Maps are successfuly displayed
– Menu -> GPS -> Where am I? FAILS with:
GPS Error
GPS
position not yet determined. Make sure the phone can receive/determine
GPS information and the satellite signal strength is good, wait a few
seconds and try again.
– I am perfectly sure that the GPS is ok as I
have extensively re-tested with my laptop (over bluetooth) and an E-TEN
Glofish X500.
– I have tested with every previous available MGMaps versions. Always the same result.

As I have been trying to get this working again since a lot of weeks, I am open to any ideas Smile

Considering
some potential problem with the phone itself, (BTW the BT performance
is perfect still), can I somehow test the GPS with MGMaps on a Laptop
or Palm Tungsten T2?

Later I tested MGMaps with Sun WTK on Linux and the same result. But finally:

—-

It was surprisingly about the GPS device after all. What I did was:
– Remove the GPS battery
– Turn on the GPS (no LEDs on of course)
– Wait for an hour
– Insert the GPS battery

and voila .. It works!! ..
